Assistant Primary I Teacher

Pearl Morris

Tous! Pearl Néé’eesíh’inoo. Hello! My name is Pearl (Ms. Pearl) and I use she/her/they pronouns. My mothers family has ancestral ties to the Hinono’ei nation. I was raised in Coast Salish territory and was lucky enough to spend my summers growing up exploring the beauty that is the PNW region and into Canada. I have been living and working in different parts of the US over the past few years and I feel very lucky to have found a place in Vermont. In my free time I enjoy cooking, gardening, hiking, foraging and learning new things!

This is my first year as a full-time teacher and I am so grateful for this opportunity to work in such a great community. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Social Justice oriented education from Western Washington University. I am currently enrolled at Western Governors University to obtain a Master's in Education and complete my certification as an Elementary teacher.

I know every student comes into my classroom with their own perspective and experiences, each student’s abilities are unique. I believe in a strength based approach to facilitate a more authentic and collaborative learning experience. I work to create an inclusive learning environment where we develop our practical life skills, critical thinking, and sustainably conscious understanding of the world. I’m continuously inspired to build space for the next seven generations.
